Travel SIM Cards – Everything You Need To Know

A Prepaid SIM card is a SIM only package which is a cost effective way to re-connect your old mobile phone. The deal includes FREE line rental and some FREE inclusive minutes for a set period of time (12 months on MM02 & 13 Months on Vodafone).

What sort of handset can I use?
You need a GSM handset, which has been on a Vodafone or MM02 Pay monthly tariff (line rental handsets). We suggest you try a friend/s SIM card in your phone before you order!

The following handsets will not work with Prepaid Sim Cards!

  • Any Orange or T-Mobile handsets
  • mmO2 pay as you go
  • Vodafone pay as you go
  • Virgin handsets

All of these handsets are ‘SIM locked’ to their tariff/Network. If you’re looking to buy a new phone, check out this list: upcoming phones in 2017

Will I enter a contract?
Yes, you will enter a 12-month minimum contract in which the normal Networks terms and conditions apply. If you wish to cancel Prepaid SIM cards you need to give a 30-day disconnection notice after the first 12 months. If you do not upgrade or disconnect your Prepaid SIM card you will be charged a monthly line rental.

What do I pay per month?
You will have to pay for any text messages, calls over your inclusive minutes and itemized billing at £1.77 per month.

Can I use it abroad?
Yes, you can get your International Roaming bars removed subject to an additional credit check. Please make sure your existing handset will work in the country you intend to visit.
